Missions
At First Baptist we strive for missions to be a way of life. We strive to be the hands and feet of Christ in our community and in our world. Relationships are the foundation for this way of life, our relationship with God and our relationship with our neighbor. One of the most significant relationships we are continually striving to build is with our partner churches, Shiloh Baptist Church and Greater Little Zion Holiness Church, both historically African-American congregations in Henderson. Since the early 2000’s we have worked together to be the presence of Christ in the Flint Hill neighborhood of Henderson.
In our community we tutor kids through our ARK (At-Risk-Kids) ministry, we provide food to local elementary kids through our Backpack Buddies ministry, we provide personnel to staff our local Men’s shelter several weeks throughout the year. We have three WMU (Women’s Missionary Union) Circles that meet throughout the year to learn about and support missions. We also value our local ministry partners at ACTS (food pantry and soup kitchen), Community Partners of Hope (Men’s Shelter), and Hope House (Men’s Transitional Housing).
In addition to local partnerships, First Baptist supports mission work beyond the borders of Vance County through mission trips and through our support of the global mission efforts of the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship (CBF).
Through it all, we seek to continually follow the guidance of the Holy Spirit as our current ministries grow and we undertake new ministries in the future. To see what we are up to, check out our current newsletter.
