Missions
At First Baptist we strive for missions to be a way of life. We strive to be the hands and feet of Christ in our community and in our world. Relationships are the foundation for this way of life, our relationship with God and our relationship with our neighbor. One of the most significant relationships we are continually striving to build is with our partner churches, Shiloh Baptist Church and Greater Little Zion Holiness Church, both historically African-American congregations in Henderson. Since the early 2000’s we have worked together to be the presence of Christ in the Flint Hill neighborhood of Henderson.
We are committed to being the hands, feet, and heart of Christ in our community. We partner with our local schools as well as various non-profits proving food, clothing, and shelter. We also have an ongoing partnership with Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church and Greater Zion United Church in the Flint Hill community. This partnership is aimed at reducing poverty and building cross-cultural relationships. We also provide a free hot meal for those in need, served from our kitchen on each third-Sunday of the month.
We have three Women on Mission small groups that meet through the year to study missions, pray, and carry out service projects to those in need.
In addition to local partnerships, First Baptist supports mission work beyond the borders of Vance County through mission trips and through our support of the global mission efforts of the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship (CBF).
Through it all, we seek to continually follow the guidance of the Holy Spirit as our current ministries grow and we undertake new ministries in the future. To see what we are up to, check out our current newsletter.
