Emily Patton, Associate Minister
For me, my call to ministry was never a burning bush or booming voice. Rather, it was a series of gradual events and feelings throughout my Christian journey that developed to a call to ministry, so persistent that I couldn’t run from it if I tried, and I did try!
A Raleigh native, I graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with my Bachelors of Arts in Education, earned my K- 6 licensure, and went on to earn my Masters of Divinity from Campbell University Divinity School. It was my home church, Hayes Barton Baptist in Raleigh, where I began serving in ministry and truly discovered my call to Children’s Ministry. Serving in Children’s Ministry allows me to combine my love of children and teaching with my passion for sharing the love of God. I believe it is our greatest calling, as people of God, to love God and love others.
When I am not at church, I enjoy reading, cheering on the Tar Heels, and doing anything and everything creative- painting, sewing, and woodworking. I especially enjoy creating intricate wood signs by hand with my scroll saw. Also, I am almost always up for a game of tennis or a cup of coffee.
Church, for me, has always been a place where I felt very comfortable and at home. I am thrilled to find myself at home here at First Baptist Church Henderson.
