But we, little fishes, after the example of our Savior Jesus Christ, are born in water, nor have we safety in any other way than by permanently abiding in water. —Tertullian

Church Wide Retreat Retreat Participants, please take time to complete a survey about the weekend. Click here for survey | Whether on a journey toward baptism or learning what it means to permanently abide in baptismal waters, people at First Baptist participate in a community of faith in which all are being formed in the way of Jesus Christ. Christian formation is about more than passing on information and teaching children and adults the facts of our faith history. While the sharing of knowledge is vital, our most important task is helping one another discover and live out our identities as baptized followers of Christ.
Certainly, the tasks of Christian formation cannot be separated from the worshipping life of the community or the mission to which Christ calls us. In many ways, everything we do at FBC contributes to our faith formation.
Currently, groups in our congregation are working together to evaluate our Christian formation programs. We are searching for ways to strengthen programs that already exist while also acknowledging the need to provide new opportunities. Already, we are implementing a new program with our children, exploring the need for community-rich small group experiences, and planning our first church-wide retreat for the fall of 2007.
Please take time to browse the Christian formation pages so that you can discover places to join our community as we encourage one another to walk in the way of Christ. |
